Welcome to the Bristol & District Tranquilliser Project

The Bristol & District Tranquilliser Project (BTP), which was originally founded in 1985 as a Tranquilliser Withdrawal Group, is a voluntary organisation set up to help people who are experiencing involuntary addiction to prescribed minor tranquillisers, sleeping pills and antidepressants.

BTP is mainly funded by the Bristol Primary Care Trust to help clients in the Bristol area. Our services are free and confidential.

All of our counselling staff have personal experience of involuntary addiction to prescribed psychotropic medication. We also have a small team of volunteers who have similar experience.

We inform individual GP's when clients start to work with us and we ask all clients to keep their GP's informed of progress.

If you would like to speak to us about our work, please call us between 10am and 4pm Monday to Thursday.
